Reviews
The waiters and waitress were accommodating and friendly. The dishes served were western cuisine with a fusion of Asian flavours. Ordered the Wagyu Beef Cheeks and was expecting it to come in small portions, but it was big, I enjoyed it very much. The ambience of the restaurant was lovely. Seemed like a very private location, not many people, so it wasn't noisy. We thought we might be hungry after our 3 course lunch, but surprisingly, we were full. We enjoyed dining here.
Came here for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend. Atmosphere was really great. Nice smelling restaurant and great interior design.
My boyfriend used to visit the restaurant few years back. And was very disappointed to see that the food standard has dropped a lot since the change in chef.
The tomato appetiser was a wet burrata with slightly pickled tomatoes. Expected a burst in flavour but the different tomato varieties really didn’t elevate the dish.
We really didn’t enjoy the soup. The cauliflower soup was boiled cream with lots of pepper. The tart that came with it is decent. However the soup lacks depth and flavour.
Main dishes: we ordered the pork belly and fish with green curry.
1) The pork belly was average at best. Accompanying sides with the pork belly left us confused. They don’t go well together with the pork and it’s like eating store bought granola with a pineapple. The dish was just not well thought out. Seemed like the dish ingredients were put together just for aesthetic purposes.
2) I personally enjoyed the fish. I like the texture of the crackling skin and the tenderness of the fish. It’s a very clean dish. The curry sauce was very watery and as a result we couldn’t not really taste the curry and had to ask for extra sauce and salt.
Lastly, the dessert was the panna cotta and I will not recommend anyone to order that. It was so firm and dense. The taste was also a little too milky for my liking.
Highlight of the meal definitely is the pickled coleslaw that appeared in almost every dish, even the dessert. I really enjoyed that. Other than that, will highly recommend the kitchen to re-think the menu items. Thank you!
Their menu may seem simple but food tastes amazing. One of the best fusion food restaurants I've tried so far. Everything we ordered was good especially Wagyu Beef Cheek and Cold Laksa Capellini. Service is good too.
We prebooked the 2nd seating dinner at 8:30pm on Valentine’s Day. Arrived at 8:25pm - table wasn’t ready so all of the customers for the 2nd seating were placed at a holding area. But there were insufficient seats, so some of us are standing awkwardly.
It’s a weekday night, most of us have work and this would be our first meal after work so we were famished. When we were finally seated inside, our first drink and meal was served after a whole 45 minutes at 9:15pm. This is quite unacceptable.
It was a nice place but they were obviously under staffed. All the staff looked stressed and overwhelmed. A waiter noticed that our table was missed out and offered my partner a second serving of wine for service recovery, but there was a lack of communication with other waiters and we were told it was chargeable. It was resolved after she went to check with him.
Overall, food and venue was okay. The manager of the place might want to look into staffing issue and more forward planning. After all, this is a prebooking event, the issues we are seeing can be easily solved with proper planning and the overall experience ought to be improved.
Food was an interesting fusion of East meets West. Loved the Wagyu Beef with mashed potatoes. The Beef Cheek was very tender. The sure winner was the Chocolate Merlot. Don't miss it!
Staff were great especially Hakim. He was friendly and helpful with recommendations and solutions. The ambience was lovely. We enjoyed eating in the midst of fairy lights surrounded by greenery. And as the restaurant's motto goes: we leaf you breathless! What an enchanting experience!
We attended a wedding reception & lunch. Not an easy venue to find as there is not sufficient directory signages to lead us into Botanico at the Garage !
A great outlet to have events and gathering , it is nice with cosy ambience within the Botanical Garden. It is well decorated but service is a total let down. The service staff has indifferent attitude, food and beverage served not to our request. Even we politely ask them not to serve one guest who is not coming , they ignore us , serve the 7 courses and flatly told us cannot "tapao" !
As for the food, appetiser Cod Bite Fritters tasted like mixed fish, prefer it to be more succulent. Disappointed by the "small" roasted Tiger Prawn which is not fresh but mashy ! Roasted Chicken Roulade is tough with dry stuffing , prefer it moist.
Salmon is bland . Despite having a mediocre lunch , we enjoyed the excellent Onde Onde dessert which is soft & spongy !
We got the 5 course menu and it was average at best. Nothing stood out to be honest.
The starter of raw salmon was disappointingly tasteless. The laksa spaghetti was alright, “tiger prawn” was pathetically small, and the pasta was cold and dry. Crispy sea bream was slightly better, the skin was crispy and the green curry was flavourful. The baby eggplant however did not complement the dish. “Min Jiang kueh” dessert was interesting, favourite was definitely the peanut ice cream and all the textures. Chocolate cake wasn’t too sweet but may get heavy if you have it alone yourself.
Overall, service was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is pretty nice and chill.
Kang was extremely friendly and attentive throughout the dinner, thanks to him for explaining wine choices and always checking in on us! Had the 5-course meal, it was very delicious, especially the mushroom soup 😁
